We are a group of Polish and British volunteers from all walks of life. The group was first formed when 5 of us got together on 28th February 2022; 4 days after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Our common aim was to explore ways of providing practical support to Ukrainians affected by the invasion.
From the start, there has been a very close collaboration with the Polish Scouts Association in Perth.
The warehouse facility at Morris Leslie’s Car Auction at Errol was generously loaned to us by Morris Leslie himself.
Using Morris's depot as a base, we began to plan how individuals and businesses in our local area, could pool resources to offer practical support to Ukrainians in need.
We joined forces early on with Siobhan's trust and Polish volunteers working near the border at Medyka to help Ukrainians.
This has been crucial to allow us to carefully listen to their needs and tailor the aid we send.
Since then, we have been joined and strengthened by scores of other volunteers, this is very much a community project.
People came in their droves to donate, collect, sort, package and load many thousands of donations from across Perthshire, Dundee and Angus (even from as far afield as Skye, Aviemore and Inverness!)
Together, our volunteers and donors delivered well over £600,000 worth of vital aid directly to the Polish/Ukrainian border regions since we started.
We will continue to do so for as long as our funds permit and the aid is necessary.
THE FUTURE: We are committed to delivering ongoing support to Ukrainians traumatised by the Russian invasion; constantly reviewing the best way of doing this as the crisis continues.
